DUBAI AIRPORTS TO CHARGE PASSENGER FEES

Airlines operating in Dubai airports have been tasked with collecting a new service fee that has been approved by Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The new service fee of AED35 (US$9.53) was approved under Executive Council Resolution No (8) of 2016, meaning all passengers departing the UAE through Dubai’s airports or transiting will be charged for the use of the airport facilities.

Those exempt from the charge include cabin crew, children under two years of age, and transit passengers whose arrival and departure flight number is the same.
Effective immediately, airlines will be responsible for collecting the new fee while issuing tickets for flights departing Dubai’s airports after June 30 2016. The collected fees will be transferred to Dubai Airports, and subsequently to the Dubai Government public treasury.
According to an official statement, the resolution aims to improve Dubai’s airport infrastructure and boost its capacity, which is set to reach 100 million passengers by 2023, as well as support expansion projects such as the state-of-the-art Concourse D at Dubai International Airport, the expansion of Terminal 2 and the renovation of Terminal 1.
