Details have been revealed for the latest Dubai tourist attaction - the Dubai Steps.
Plans to build the giant staircase were announced earlier by the Dubai Municipality, along with other projects, but the details of ‘Dubai Steps’ have only been revealed now.
This new 500-step landmark will reach 100 metres into the sky, but don’t worry about not making it all the way to the top, there will be rest areas every 100 steps.
The Dubai Steps will attract tourists, athletes and visitors from all over the world, and is likely to be built in the area between Union Square and Bani Yas, however alternate locations such as Dubai Creek and Dubai Marina are being considered.
The Assistant General Director for Engineering and Planning at Dubai Municipality, said the project adds a new tourism landmark for the Emirate, and that the construction for the 25-storey tower will take only one year to complete.
He also added that the municipality has allocated space surrounding the stairs for daily outdoor sport activities, to attract large numbers of people. Many countries have various kinds of distinctive stairs, for different reasons, so this one can attract athletes to use it as a challenge, and may even be part of certain seasonal races.
